Tidy Home Habits

Whether you're a seasoned homemaker or just starting, creating a tidy and cozy home is an art we can all master.

Let's dive into seven practical and fun homemaking habits to help you build the perfect haven for your family.

Declutter Like a Pro

Have you ever heard the saying, "less is more"? It's true! Start by decluttering one room at a time. Go through your stuff and ask yourself, "Do I really need this?" If the answer is no, consider donating or tossing it. You'll be amazed at how much space you can free up and how much easier it is to keep things tidy when you have less clutter.

Daily 15-Minute Tidying Up

Set aside 15 minutes each day for a quick tidy-up session. Put away toys, fold blankets, and straighten up pillows. This habit prevents messes from piling up and makes your home look consistently inviting.

Master the Art of Organizing

Invest in some handy storage solutions like bins, baskets, and shelves. Use them to categorize items like books, toys, and kitchen supplies. A well-organized home not only looks better but also saves you time searching for things.

The Use of Lists

Make to-do lists your new best friend. Write down daily and weekly chores like grocery shopping, laundry, and vacuuming. Checking items off your list gives you a sense of accomplishment and keeps your home running smoothly.

A Place for Everything

Assign a specific home for each item in your house. For example, create a spot for keys, mail, and shoes near the entryway. When everything has its place, it's easier to put things back where they belong.

A Load a Day

Doing a load of laundry a day simplifies the laundry process as well as reduces on putting and folding away time. It also helps to keep the laundry monster away because it never gives the laundry a chance to pile up. In under 45 minutes every day we can have clean, fresh and sorted laundry.

If that’s not your cup of tea however then select one or two days a week to do your laundry. After all, the best system is the one we will actually do.

Teamwork Makes the Dream Work

Get your family involved! Assign age-appropriate chores to your children and if your husband wants to help with the household tasks, let him. Not only does this lighten your load, but it also teaches the children responsibility and teamwork. When it comes to our husbands, let’s try not to hover and be grateful. Even if it’s not how we would have done it.

Remember, homemaking is an ongoing process, and perfection is not the goal. It's about creating a warm and welcoming environment where you and your family can thrive. Embrace these habits with a positive attitude and make homemaking an enjoyable journey.

Happy Homemaking!
